Welcome to the Worship Life Institute.

Small Groups Description

Adult Bible Study:  Facilitated by Minister JoAnne Van Dunk

This small group meets every Sunday morning @ 8:30 in Room 1122 at Martinsburg High School.  This Bible Study conforms to the Word of God and takes an insightful look into the daily struggles that we all face. The contemporary short stories contain a genuine, sobering, convicting, cultural perspective that challenges the spiritually and biologically young and old without ever deviating from the Word of God. It explains the principles of the Word of God and increases awareness of the presence of God in everyday life, language, conversation, and situations.

Adult Game Night:  Facilitated by Bro. Jay and Sister Michelle Page

This small group meets on the third Friday of every month and is designed as a night out for adults ages 21 and up.  There is plenty of food, fellowship, and games to be played.  Some games include Spades, Bid Whist, Phase 10, Dominoes, Bingo and more.  It is a chance for the adults of our church who like to enjoy friendly games of fellowship to come out and enjoy the company of those who share similar interest.  Child care is provided.

Boundaries In Marriage:  Facilitated by Deacon William & Charolette Norris

This small group meets on every Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. in the Administrative
Annex Upstairs Conference Room.  Whether you are just starting out as a couple, have been married for years, or are seriously contemplating marriage, Boundaries in Marriage will show you how to establish your own boundaries and respect those of your partner. Drawing on principles from the Bible, it can help you safeguard against relational fractures and mend existing cracks. It may even save your marriage. And it can help make even the best marriage better.

DBC Softball Team:

This team is designed for outreach and competitive fellowship in the name of Jesus with other churches as it plays in the Christian Fellowship Softball League in Berkeley County, WV.  The team is open for everyone ages 14 and up that likes to play softball.  The season starts in late April and runs until early August culminating with a double elimination tournament at the end of the season.  For more information about the team contact the Min. of Assimilation and Accountability.

Inter-Generational Basketball:  Facilitated by Deacon Ronnie Robinson

The small group is designed for outreach and competitive fellowship with Cedar Ridge Boys’ Home in Williamsport, MD.  This group is made up of teenage boys and adult men who meet one Tuesday a month to go to Williamsport to fellowship and play basketball with and against the young men at Cedar Ridge.  During that time, one of our young men speaks about what God has done and is doing in his life to encourage others to seek God in their lives and to let them know that someone does care about not only their physical well-being but their spiritual well-being also.

Inter-Generational Flag Football:  Facilitated by Bros. Malcolm Lee, Jeremy Roy & Gabe Young

This small group is designed for outreach and competitive fellowship between the young and older men of our church.  This group meets one Sunday a month after service to play flag football as a means of bridging the generation gap between the adult men and the young men of our church.  Both groups are encouraged to bring friends to the games to participate and be introduced to God through the power of united fellowship with one another.

Teen Group:  Facilitated by Sis. Teresa Roy and Minister Regina Robinson

This small group meets every Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. in the John Curtis Clark Fellowship Hall during our weekly corporate Bible Study.  This class uses an 8-page take-home paper for teens and has two functions. In class, students may use the Bible study in the middle of each issue.   At home, the leaflet reinforces the lesson focus through a variety of creative ways: non-fiction and fiction stories; stories written by teens; how-to articles; puzzles; and personal surveys.  The lesson also contains a section called Quiet Time Devotions, which incorporates Scripture passages relevant to each week's study, and will help students apply what they have learned.

Through The Bible In One Year:  Facilitated by Minister Fred Lee

This small group meets on Sunday mornings in the Sanctuary at our Raleigh Street location @ 8:30 A.M.  This class is designed to assist those who are seeking to read the entire Bible, but don’t know where to start.  This study is God’s answer to this very problem.  During this class one can obtain a working knowledge of every book in the Bible and will be able to closely study many significant chapters in the Bible.  This class will shed light to those who find the Bible difficult to read and understand and will grant more insight in 52 weeks than you dreamed possible.

Walking In His Steps:  Facilitated by Sister Gloria Watts

This group is committed to promoting wellness through the daily exercise of walking. The group will also explore Jesus’ walk as He focused on advancing the Father’s Kingdom and is open to all adults. So if you are interested in getting in shape both physically and spiritually then feel free to join this group.  They meet twice daily Monday thru Friday in War Memorial Park at 7:00 am – 8:00 am (Advanced Group) and in the evenings from 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm (Advanced, Intermediate and Beginner Groups).  In case of inclement weather this group will meet at the Martinsburg Mall at the Post Office Entrance in the back.
